National Archives launches revamped website.

People with keen interest in Fiji’s history can now easily access the old documents and pictures through the National Archives of Fiji’s revamped website. The website was launched by Director of National Achieves Opeta Alefaio in Suva today. Alefaio says the archival service in Fiji has been made accessible to a wide range of people. “We’ve increased our outreach to communities by five hundred percent so we’ve increased our boots on the ground. We’ve gone out and taken heritage materials to isolated rural communities so they have access to their archives but we’re also trying to increase accessibility digitally so with our new website, we hope it’s pleasant and accessible which is able to help us communicate with the people so that they can come in and make use of what’s theirs.” The Website has research guidance for users, spelling out the process for accessing records.
